Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves was named the 2015-16 NBA Rookie of the Year on Monday.
As a high school senior in New Jersey during the 2013-14 season, Towns averaged 20.9 points, 13.8 rebounds and 6.1 blocked shots per game for St. Joseph, leading the Falcons to a state title and No. 17 national ranking by MaxPreps.
The skilled 6-foot-11 post player joined Cliff Alexander, Stanley Johnson, Trey Lyles and Jahlil Okafor on the
MaxPreps All-American first team.
After a year at Kentucky, Towns was drafted by the Timberwolves and looks to be a future star in the NBA. He played in all 82 games and averaged 18.3 points and 10.7 rebounds for the league's most promising young team.
