The Calistoga Wildcats entered their tilt with the Esparto Spartans with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 58-28 stomp they got on the road against Esparto. Considering Calistoga has won four matches by more than 27 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Esparto's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Antonio Seastrunk Jr., who scored 11 points along with four steals. Seastrunk Jr. scored a full 39.3% of Esparto's points, the 11th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Andre Oliver was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Calistoga has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Esparto, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-13.
Calistoga will finish 2023 at home by hosting Elsie Allen at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Esparto, they will head out on the road to face off against Highlands at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Highlands is on a three-game streak of home losses, Esparto a four-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
