Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for GRACE Christian

GRACE Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Ravenscroft Ravens 17-2. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Ravens, too.

Addison Vercellino made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Vercellino was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, GRACE Christian got a massive performance out of Lydia Lester, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Lester continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Laraway, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

GRACE Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .828. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ravenscroft only posted an OBP of .250.

GRACE Christian pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.2 runs. As for Ravenscroft, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, GRACE Christian will head out to challenge Cary Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. GRACE Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season. As for Ravenscroft, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against North Raleigh Christian Academy at 4:15 p.m.
