The Liberty Lightning lost against the Cedar Falls Tigers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Liberty received a tough blow as they fell 67-52 to Cedar Falls. Liberty has not had much luck with Cedar Falls recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Loss or not, Liberty got some senior leadership from Trey Hughes and Gage Kampman. Hughes scored 20 points along with two steals, while Kampman. scored 18 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Kampman continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Cael Schramm was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Liberty has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Cedar Falls, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty will take on Xavier at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cedar Falls, they will head out on the road to square off against Iowa City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Iowa City is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
