Muhlenberg County is 0-4 against Graves County since October of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Muhlenberg County will head out on the road to face off against the Graves County Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Muhlenberg County has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Graves County will arrive with three straight victories.
After soaring to 34 points the game before, Muhlenberg County were a bit more limited in their matchup two weeks ago. They were outmatched by Owensboro on the road and fell 62-6. While losing is never fun, Muhlenberg County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky football rankings (they are ranked 179th, while Owensboro is ranked 36th).
Meanwhile, Graves County got themselves on the board against Marshall County on Friday, but Marshall County never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 48-0 victory over the Marshals on the road. Graves County pushed the score to 42-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Marshall County had no chance of recovering from.
Graves County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lincoln Acree out in front who picked up 145 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Cole Katzman also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Graves County's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Mystic Mangrum and Jacob Sutton who racked up six sacks between them.
Muhlenberg County's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged two points per game. Graves County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Muhlenberg County was taken down by Graves County 52-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Muhlenberg County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
