The Glenn Grizzlies are taking a road trip to square off against the Hays Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Glenn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Glenn's last matchup with Liberty Hill could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Tuesday. Glenn lost 15-9 to Liberty Hill. The loss continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost five in a row.
Fuego Garcia was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Caylee Curtsinger also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Hays earned a 14-9 win over Lockhart on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won six in a row.
Alyza Rangel was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. Rangel was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Teuila Eteaki was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Gabriella Lopez was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5.
Hays kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.
Hays pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Glenn, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Glenn hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Hays struggles in that department as they've averaged .331. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
