Mogollon is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Bagdad is on a four-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. Mogollon will host Bagdad at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mogollon had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 29-run drubbing they dealt Joseph City on Tuesday. Mogollon never let Joseph City get on the board and left with a 29-0 win. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Hadley Porter made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Mogollon got a massive performance out of Eric Starkes, who scored five runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Brody Porter, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Mogollon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Bagdad made easy work of Anthem Prep on Tuesday and carried off a 12-5 win. That's two games straight that the Sultans have won by exactly seven runs.
Like Mogollon, Bagdad also got a great game from a two-way player: Destry Owings. On the mound, Owings tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Rowdy Hooper tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Owings has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Owings scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-4, while Hooper scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nick Martinez, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Bubba Myers was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Mogollon's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Bagdad, their win bumped their record up to an identical 9-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Mogollon has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Bagdad struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mogollon suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Bagdad when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will Mogollon have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
