Jac-Cen-Del hasn't had much luck against Rising Sun recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will face off against the Shiners at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Jac-Cen-Del is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Switzerland County with a sharp 15-9 victory on Monday. The Eagles not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 20, 2024 (when they won 13-4).
The team relied heavily on Savannah Steele, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taylor Swinney, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
Meanwhile, Rising Sun had already won 13 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it 14 on Monday. They never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Shiners, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Rising Sun also got a great performance from Elaina Titkemeyer as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Titkemeyer has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ryan Works was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Alyssa Walcott also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Rising Sun was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in 11 consecutive contests.
Rising Sun's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Jac-Cen-Del, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-16.
Jac-Cen-Del suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Rising Sun in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
