Basketball Recap: Paulecia Isom's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Michigan City over Lake Central

Michigan City lost against Lake Central back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Michigan City Wolves lost to the Lake Central Indians on the road by a 53-39 margin. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Indians are ranked 51st).

Michigan City lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Paulecia Isom, who posted 12 points. Isom has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Iyanhi Grinston was another key player, putting up four points and 13 rebounds.

Vanessa Wimberly was her usual excellent self, going 6 of 13 on her way to 17 points and seven steals for Lake Central. Another player making a difference was Bryn Leonard, who put up seven points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Michigan City's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Lake Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Michigan City will host Merrillville at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. As for Lake Central, they will venture away from home to square off against Crown Point at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th.
