Notre Dame Prep is 1-6 against Horizon since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Notre Dame Prep will face off against Horizon at 3:45 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Notre Dame Prep has three straight wins, Horizon has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Notre Dame Prep barely beat Chaparral the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Notre Dame Prep never let Chaparral get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Wednesday. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Marley Caldwell, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Chaparral off the board. Caldwell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Daelynn Flowers was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Mia Brooks also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, in Wednesday's Canine Competition, Horizon had to take the L. They fell just short of Desert Mountain by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Huskies have suffered against the Wolves since March 19, 2022.
Pierson Hozza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
Notre Dame Prep's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Horizon, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Notre Dame Prep's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's match. Notre Dame Prep has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Horizon, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Notre Dame Prep continue to outrun the ball?
Notre Dame Prep took their win against Horizon in their previous matchup on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Notre Dame Prep since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
