The Buchholz Bobcats waltzed into their matchup Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They snuck past Hawthorne with a 39-35 win. This was payback for Buchholz, who suffered a 63-36 loss the last time these two teams met.
It was another big night for Jamison Cardwell, who scored 19 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Buchholz's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Wyckoff, who scored eight points.
Buchholz's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points per game. As for Hawthorne, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2.
Buchholz will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Dunnellon at 3:30 p.m. on January 6, 2024. Hawthorne and Bradford will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 21st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
