On Wednesday, the Dunbar Crimson Tide faced the Ballou Knights in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Dunbar walked away with a 56-44 win over Ballou. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Dunbar.
Gregory Lomax continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. D'Mitric Starke was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six assists and two steals.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josiah GoMillion, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Samaud Benton-McDonald, who scored 11 points.
Ballou struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Dunbar racked up 17 assists.
Dunbar is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Ballou, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.
Dunbar will head out on the road to square off against School Without Walls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in District of Columbia (School Without Walls is ranked 17th, while Dunbar is ranked tenth). As for Ballou, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering at 6:00 p.m. Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
