The Phillips Wildcats had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against East Moline United by a score of 54-46. The score was all tied up 20-20 at the break, but Phillips was the better team in the second half.
Lawrence Horton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Phillips' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Harris, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Phillips has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for East Moline United, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.
Phillips and DeKalb will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for East Moline United, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Peoria at 6:00 p.m.
