The Mackay Miners pushed their score all the way to 58 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to Salmon. Mackay was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Salmon apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.
When it comes to explaining why Mackay lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaizer Summers. Despite the final result, he dropped a triple-double on 22 points, 22 rebounds, and 10 assists. Cooper Roche was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Mackay's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Salmon, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Mackay will be playing at home against Leadore at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Salmon, they will head out on the road to face off against Watersprings at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
