Despite the defeat, Greene Central saw an underclassman step up: An'nysha Wooten dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Wooten scored a full 44.1% of Greene Central's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Janiyah Sutton, who scored 7 points along with 14 rebounds.
Greene Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Kinston, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greene Central will take on Eastern Wayne at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Eastern Wayne presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Greene Central in North Carolina (Eastern Wayne is ranked 55th, while Greene Central is ranked 291st). As for Kinston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Jacksonville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
