The Urbana Hillclimbers are taking a road trip to face off against the Benjamin Logan Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Urbana barely beat Graham Local the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hillclimbers put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 14-5 victory on Thursday. The Hillclimbers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8th (when they won 12-2).
Grady Lantz was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Urbana is 2-1 when Lantz posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Colt Teepe was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Wilheim, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Urbana lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Logan waltzed into their match on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Warriors.
Adam Tinsman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Benjamin Logan's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Soli Hughes, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Urbana and bumps their season record up to 6-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Benjamin Logan, their record is now 10-7.
Urbana beat Benjamin Logan 5-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hillclimbers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
