The Valley Christian Trojans will host the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Valley Christian had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Globe on Monday. Valley Christian was the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Globe. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.
Carson Grier and Berkeley Kaiser were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Grier pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Kaiser pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, Grier didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. At bat, Grier scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Kaiser scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
In other pitching news, Ty Pasisich looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Caleb Danzeisen was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxen Maxey, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-1.
Valley Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Yuma Catholic never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past Parker 11-0.
Leonel Avelar made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Avelar was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joey Carey, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Daniel Ruiz, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Valley Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Yuma Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Valley Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Yuma Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
