3A Region I District 7 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Colton Bretton and Justin Weatherley provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Venus. The connection was good for 71 yards, the longest such play in 3A Region I District 7 this season.
Stephenville extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Hillsboro, 63-13. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Glen Rose's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Bretton threw for 313 and five touchdowns and Weatherley had 200 yards receiving. On the ground Jensen Nash chipped in 75 yards. Cody Burtscher helped Glen Rose's passing attack out by catching five balls for 56 yards.
The Tigers' Bretton and Weatherley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Bretton has thrown for 2427 yards this season, while Weatherley has 50 catches for 1134 yards. Lee Hardy from Alvarado leads the league in rushing with 1211 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Region I District 7 this week will be when the Indians take on the Bulldogs. Alvarado is in fourth place, while Venus is in third place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Jeff Dixon's team takes on Buddy Hardin's team. The Indians have allowed 148 points this season, while the Bulldogs have given up 152.
