Softball Recap: Menchville Has No Trouble Against Woodside

Menchville won the last time they faced Woodside and things went their way on Thursday too. The Monarchs blew past the Wolverines 14-3. The result was nothing new for the Monarchs, who have now won four matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Menchville let Brielle Creque (2027) and Olivia Rivera (2026) run wild. Creque (2027) went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Rivera (2026) went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Rivera (2026) has launched this season. Suki Gibbons (2027) was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

Menchville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.

Menchville now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Woodside, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9.

Coming up, Menchville will challenge Hickory at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Monarchs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Woodside, they will square off against Warwick at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
