The Knippa Crushers lost against the Nueces Canyon Panthers last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Knippa took a 36-22 bruising from Nueces Canyon. Knippa has struggled against Nueces Canyon recently, as their game on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Nueces Canyon found their leader in underclassman Madison Sifuentes, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten steals. Those ten steals set a new season-high mark for Sifuentes. The team also got some help courtesy of Schreiner Meredith, who scored six points along with 13 rebounds.
Knippa's defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.9 points per game. As for Nueces Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Knippa will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Medina at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Nueces Canyon will be home for the holidays to greet Leakey at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
