The Cottonwood Colts waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with five straight wins but they left with six. They took down Stansbury 79-63. Given Cottonwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Stansbury is ranked 112th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cottonwood was led to victory by John Rosevear and Peter Oguama. Rosevear scored 17 points along with three steals, while Oguama scored 19 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Oguama has scored all season. Ryan Nielson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Cottonwood's victory was their 15th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.9 points per game. As for Stansbury, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cottonwood will take on Park City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Park City is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Stansbury, they will be playing at home against Tooele at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Tooele focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Tuesday.
