On Saturday, the Newington Nor'easters faced the Simsbury Trojans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Newington took a 48-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Newington has scored all season.
Newington lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kendall Miller, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals. Miller hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hope Romanello, who scored two points along with ten rebounds.
Newington's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4. As for Simsbury, they pushed their record up to 16-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newington will take on the Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Sheehan is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games. As for Simsbury, they will be playing at home against the Titans at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hall will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Trojans are ranked first).
