Wabasha-Kellogg is 2-7 against Rushford-Peterson since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wabasha-Kellogg Falcons will be home for the holidays to greet the Rushford-Peterson Trojans at 7:15 p.m. Wabasha-Kellogg is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Wabasha-Kellogg was the victim of a tough 63-43 loss at the hands of Spring Grove. While losing is never fun, Wabasha-Kellogg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while Spring Grove is ranked 123rd).
Wabasha-Kellogg's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brielle Adams, who scored 19 points, and Madge Strobush who scored four points along with 13 rebounds and four steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for her. Ileana DeAngel was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Meanwhile, Rushford-Peterson had to suffer through a rough 69-36 loss at the hands of Hayfield. Rushford-Peterson has not had much luck with Hayfield recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Wabasha-Kellogg bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Rushford-Peterson, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Wabasha-Kellogg was dealt a bruising 73-20 defeat at the hands of Rushford-Peterson when the teams last played back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wabasha-Kellogg was down 44-12.
