It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Kentwood Kangaroos had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Pelicans 48-20 at home. Kentwood might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won six matches by 28 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Ja?marion Burton, who rushed for 162 yards and four touchdowns, and also picked up 50 receiving yards. Burton hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Earl jr, who threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt.
Another reason for the win was Kentwood's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Lamikal Callahan was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three sacks himself.
The win was the third in a row for Kentwood, bringing their record for this year to 10-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32 points. As for Homer, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Kentwood will face off against Oak Grove at TBD on Friday. Oak Grove has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 330 points over their last seven games. Homer does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
