The Powers Catholic Chargers will head out on the road to take on the Bridgeport Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Powers Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 715 points over their last ten contests.
Even though Mt. Pleasant scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, Powers Catholic still came out on top. Powers Catholic strolled past Mt. Pleasant with points to spare, taking the game 74-55. Given Powers Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Mt. Pleasant is ranked 126th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Powers Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Javontae Ross, who scored 12 points along with nine assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Dedivanaj, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Bridgeport, who are still winless after their seventh contest. They suffered a rough 63-41 loss at the hands of Glenn on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that Bridgeport has lost by exactly 22 points.
Powers Catholic's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.8 points per game. As for Bridgeport, they have fallen quite a ways from their 20-5 record last season and are now at 0-7.
Powers Catholic lost to Bridgeport on the road by a decisive 86-72 margin in their previous matchup back in March of 2018. Can Powers Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
