Bangor has gone 7-2 against Brunswick recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Rams will be playing at home against the Dragons at 4:30 p.m. Bangor's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Brunswick's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Bangor is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Hermon, who was ranked first at the time (Bangor was ranked eighth). The Rams fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Rams couldn't push the score so high this time.
Sophie Lynch made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Brunswick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Morse. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 24, 2019, but that streak is no more.
Julianna Morin and Ava Zimmerman did some serious damage despite the final result: Morin went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run, while Zimmerman went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That RBI was Zimmerman's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Stella Maxim, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases.
The defeat snapped Bangor's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-4 record. As for Brunswick, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bangor has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Brunswick struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bangor came up short against Brunswick in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 4-1. Will the Rams have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
