Softball Recap: Hopewell Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

Hopewell won the last time they faced Chambers and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Titans were the clear victors by a 22-1 margin over the Cougars. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won nine matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Emma Hubert made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kori West, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexis McLaughlin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Hopewell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .871. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Hopewell is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Chambers, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hopewell will venture away from home to square off against Pine Lake Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chambers, they will head out to challenge North Mecklenburg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
