After flying high against Clarke Prep last Friday, Morgan Academy came back down to earth. The Senators took a 42-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southern Academy Cougars on Friday. Southern Academy found their leader in sophomore Patrick Thomas, who rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Rogers, who rushed for 58 yards on only five carries.
Having lost for the first time this season, Morgan Academy fell to 3-1. As for Southern Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morgan Academy will challenge Abbeville Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Senators 13.8, the Generals 10.5) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Southern Academy, they will take on Lowndes Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Rebels have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.
