Newton waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Southeast Lauderdale Tigers with a sharp 52-32 win. Given Newton's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Southeast Lauderdale is ranked 146th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Newton's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Southeast Lauderdale, they dropped their record down to 5-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Newton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southeast Lauderdale, they will take on Demopolis in a tournament on Friday.
