Honey Grove is 2-8 against Wolfe City since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Honey Grove Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Wolfe City Wolves at 6:30 p.m. Honey Grove has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Honey Grove posted their biggest win since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Trenton 51-16 at home. Given Honey Grove's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 435th, while Trenton is ranked 1218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Wolfe City entered their tilt with Celeste with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Wolfe City was the clear victor by a 60-36 margin over Celeste. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Wolfe City has posted against Celeste since December 18, 2020.
Honey Grove pushed their record up to 19-9 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Wolfe City, they now have a winning record of 14-13.
Honey Grove took their win against Wolfe City in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 50-26. The rematch might be a little tougher for Honey Grove since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
