The Reidsville Rams are still undefeated this season after their game against the Cannon Cougars on Friday, but the Cannon Cougars came as close as anyone has to beating them. It was close, but Reidsville capped 2023 with a 73-71 win over Cannon. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Reidsville has scored all year.
Reidsville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dionte Neal, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 assists. Neal is absolutely dominating the assist category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Kendre Harrison was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 19 rebounds.
Reidsville's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Cannon, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.
Reidsville and Northwood will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Drake Powell and Neal. Cannon will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Richmond at 12:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Richmond will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Cannon is ranked fifth).
