After a string of three wins, Nixon's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 2-0 to the Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

While Nixon had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-19.

Hilda Quintana paced Nixon's offense, picking up ten kills. Quintana got some help from Mia Arevalo and her nine assists.

Nixon's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, their win was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-0.

Nixon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Zapata on the 30th. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Los Fresnos on the 30th.
