Falcon is a perfect 10-0 against Sand Creek since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Falcons will host the Scorpions at 3:30 p.m. Falcon will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Falcon is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Cheyenne Mountain, who was ranked 19th at the time (Falcon was ranked 20th). The Falcons came out on top in a nail-biter against the Red-Tailed Hawks on Friday, sneaking past 8-7.
The team relied heavily on Brayden Millikan, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Ethan Gentz was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Falcon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Sand Creek made easy work of Sierra on Thursday and carried off a 14-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Scorpions, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Hayden Garcia was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Sand Creek's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Avyn Walter, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Falcon's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Sand Creek, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Falcon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Sand Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Falcon's way against Sand Creek when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Falcon made off with a 16-0 win. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Scorpions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
