The Morris Redskins will face off against the Herscher Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Morris comes in on five and Herscher on three.
Morris' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Serena. The result was nothing new for the Redskins, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
Morris let Cami Pfeifer and Halie Olson run wild. Pfeifer went 4-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Olson went 3-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits Pfeifer has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Shannon, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Morris was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Serena only posted a batting average of .167.
Meanwhile, Herscher earned a 9-4 victory over Reed-Custer on Tuesday.
Keira Ahramovich and Liv Wilkins did most of the damage at the plate: Ahramovich fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-3, while Wilkins fired off two home runs while going 3-for-3. Those home runs were Wilkins' first of the season. Chloe Kinkade was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Morris' win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Herscher, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Morris hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Herscher struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Morris skirted past Herscher 4-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Redskins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
