Rutland is 8-2 against Brattleboro since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Rutland Raiders will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Brattleboro Bears at 6:30 p.m. Brattleboro took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Rutland, who comes in off a win.
Last Wednesday, Rutland faced Hartford in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Rutland enjoyed a cozy 46-28 win over Hartford.
Meanwhile, Brattleboro's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Otter Valley.
Despite their loss, Brattleboro saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Keagan Systo, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Johnathon Haskins, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Rutland's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Brattleboro, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-4.
