Baseball Game Preview: Tenino Beavers vs. Elma Eagles

Tenino and Elma are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Beavers will face off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tenino is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

Tenino is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Washington's top teams: Montesano, who was ranked third at the time (Tenino was ranked fourth). The Beavers came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 14-10 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Beavers considering their two-run performance the match before.

Jude Leitch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tenino got a massive performance out of Will Feltus, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Feltus a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Preston Snider, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs.

Meanwhile, Elma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Rochester.

Tenino's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 12-2. As for Elma, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8-1.

Tenino skirted past Elma 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Beavers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
