Given Vista Murrieta's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Murrieta Mesa is ranked 314th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Vista Murrieta found their leader in underclassman Cisco Munoz, who scored 25 points along with five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Munoz has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brody Guinn, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Vista Murrieta pushed their record up to 20-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Murrieta Mesa, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-10.
Vista Murrieta will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. Chaparral has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 27. As for Murrieta Mesa, they will head out on the road to square off against Great Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
