The Bingham Miners will challenge the Cedar Valley Aviators at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Bingham's win against Lehi wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Miners had just enough and edged out the Pioneers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Miners have posted since September 6th.
Bingham had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-13.
Cedar Valley needed a changed in momentum after dropping eight straight matches and they got it from Ashley Gagnier. The Aviators won by a set and slipped past Westlake 3-2 for which the team can thank Gagnier, who had 36 digs and two aces. She has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more digs the last ten times she's played.
Cedar Valley was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 15-25, 26-24, 23-25, 25-15, 15-11.
Bingham's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Cedar Valley, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 5-12.
Bingham beat Cedar Valley 3-1 in their previous matchup back in September. Will the Miners repeat their success, or do the Aviators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
