The Desert Heights Prep Yote will venture away from home to take on the Maryvale Prep Matador at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Desert Heights Prep will be strutting in after a victory while Maryvale Prep will be coming in after a defeat.
Desert Heights Prep will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Wednesday, then bounced right back against Salome on Wednesday. The Yote put the hurt on the Frogs with a sharp 19-9 win.
Nicole Bryan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Anna Fjell and Florence Peterson did most of the damage at the plate: Fjell went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Peterson went 4-for-6 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those five hits gave Fjell a new career-high. Amanda Baize was another key player, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Desert Heights Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Maryvale Prep's offense. They came up short against Antelope on Thursday, falling 26-0. Having soared to a lofty 32 runs in the game before, the Matador's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Desert Heights Prep has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-10 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13 runs. As for Maryvale Prep, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
