Basketball Recap: Joaliel Caraballo Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lejeune

Northside - Jacksonville won the last time they faced Lejeune and things went their way on Monday too. The Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs walked away with a 57-50 victory over the Lejeune Devil Pups.

Northside - Jacksonville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Joaliel Caraballo out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 steals. Caraballo has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times he's played. Peyton Mayhew was another key player, going 6 for 9 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds.

Northside - Jacksonville was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lejeune only racked up nine assists.

Despite the loss, Lejeune still got an impressive performance from Devon Charles, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. That was a full 46% of Lejeune's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Javon Rivera, who had eight points and three steals.

Northside - Jacksonville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Lejeune, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Northside - Jacksonville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-50 defeat against J.H. Rose on the 3rd. As for Lejeune, they will face off against Croatan at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Croatan knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Lejeune likes a good challenge.
