The Smoky Hill Buffaloes will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Kent Denver Sun Devils at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. One thing working in Smoky Hill's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Smoky Hill pushed their score all the way to 69 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 83-69 bruising from Boulder Creek. Smoky Hill found out winning isn't easy when you nail eight fewer threes than your opponent.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kaylan Graham, who scored 23 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Sylla, who scored 20 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Kent Denver at home against Middle Park on Saturday as the squad secured a 93-26 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-13.
Caleb Fay had an outrageously good game as he scored 22 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josh Gonnella, who scored 12 points.
The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: Boulder Creek's win pushed their record up to 2-1, while Smoky Hill's defeat dropped theirs down to 1-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Smoky Hill and Kent Denver are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Smoky Hill hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 68.7 points per game. However, it's not like Kent Denver struggles in that department as they've been even better at 85.5 per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run up the score up higher Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
Everything came up roses for Smoky Hill against Kent Denver when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 94-56 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Smoky Hill since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
