The Liberty Charter Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 52-33 bruising from Kearny. Liberty Charter lost against Kearny in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 65-23 score last time.
Liberty Charter's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Duke Dengerink, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Dengerink scored a full 30.3% of Liberty Charter's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Henry Appelquist, who scored 11 points.
Liberty Charter's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-7. As for Kearny, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
Liberty Charter will take on Preuss UCSD in a holiday battle at 5:00 p.m. on Monday at. Preuss UCSD and Liberty Charter are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Kearny, they will head out on the road to face off against Mar Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mar Vista is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
