Rachel Roddy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).
In other batting news, Savannah Miller was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Aliviah Bateman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Walkertown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Wheatmore got the win against Trinity on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Like Walkertown, Wheatmore also got a great game from a two-way player: Adalyn Boles. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Boles was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Nichols, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. Emma Carter was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Walkertown's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Wheatmore, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.
Wheatmore's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Walkertown has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Wheatmore, though, as they've been averaging 9.5 hits. Given Walkertown's sizable advantage in that area, the Warriors will need to find a way to close that gap.
