Baseball Recap: Hanover Central Extends Winning Streak to Six

Hanover Central came tearing into Friday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Griffith Panthers as they made off with an 11-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Dylan Bowen was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Rutherford, who went 4-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Hanover Central's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Griffith, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Hanover Central will square off against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Griffith, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Kankakee Valley at 5:00 p.m.
