Rochester has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Wabash Apaches at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rochester will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Wabash is ranked 139th).
Last Saturday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Rochester had to settle for a 46-44 loss against Lewis Cass.
The losing side was boosted by Tanner Reinartz, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Baugher, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Wabash had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They walked away with a 55-42 victory over Frankton. That's two games straight that Wabash has won by exactly 13 points.
Trevor Daughtry continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points along with five assists and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Izaak Wright was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Rochester's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Wabash, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Friday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Rochester have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 44.3% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Wabash struggles in that department as they've drained 43.8% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Rochester won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, slipping by Wabash 62-61. Does Rochester have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wabash turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
