Williamson hasn't had much luck against Sodus recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Marauders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spartans at 9:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Williamson barely beat Red Creek the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Marauders blew past the Rams 20-7 on Friday. The Marauders haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Myles Wurtz made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Mikey Ishler was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Williamson is undefeated when Ishler posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Joey VanLare was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Williamson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Sodus put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Waterloo. 12 seems to be a good number for the Spartans as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Sodus got a massive performance out of Evan Laird, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Laird has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Orbaker, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Sodus pushed their record up to 12-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Williamson, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Williamson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Sodus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 12.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Williamson came up short against Sodus when the teams last played back in April, falling 4-1. Will the Marauders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
