The Axtell Wildcats were the 46-36 winner over the Lawrence-Nelson Raiders when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Axtell fell 40-28 to the Raiders on Monday. Axtell just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kassidy Wehrer, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Danburg, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Axtell has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season. As for Lawrence-Nelson, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Axtell will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Wolves at 6:25 p.m. on February 6th. As for Lawrence-Nelson, they will square off against the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harvard is on a seven-game streak of home losses, the Raiders a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
