The Adams Central Flying Jets will venture away from home to face off against the Whitko Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Adams Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Whitko will be up against a hot Adams Central squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Flying Jets came out on top against Jay County by a score of 3-0 on Thursday.
Not much got past Cade Van De Weg, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Jay County off the board. Van De Weg has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Max Byerly was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Funk, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Whitko came out on top against Lewis Cass on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Kings. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.
Riley Harman made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 14 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Chandler Cox was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Hunter Long was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Whitko kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Adams Central now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Whitko, they moved to 7-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Adams Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Whitko struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Adams Central couldn't quite finish off Whitko in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Flying Jets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
