Fort Lupton is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Wednesday. They and the Platte Canyon Huskies, after both having extra time off, will shake off the rust and duke it out at 3:00 p.m. Platte Canyon took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Fort Lupton, who comes in off a win.
Fort Lupton's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed two weeks ago. Everything went their way against Bruce Randolph as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bluedevils considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Josiah Gonzales made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Gonzales was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Brayden Carnahan was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with six stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Andres Olivas, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with four stolen bases and two runs.
Platte Canyon played against Rocky Mountain Lutheran last Saturday and lost via forfeit.
Like Fort Lupton, Platte Canyon also got a great game from a two-way player: Nathan Laabs. He struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Laabs was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Braylon Spodyak and Karter Skouge did some serious damage despite the final result: Spodyak went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Skouge got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Platte Canyon is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2. As for Fort Lupton, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Fort Lupton skirted past Platte Canyon 23-22 when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Do the Bluedevils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
