Santa Fe took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Espanola Valley Sundevils as the Santa Fe Demons made off with an 11-1 win. For the Demons, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Sundevils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.
Leah Gutierrez made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Santa Fe let Gabriella Chavez and A'Mya Jeselink run wild. Chavez scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Jeselink scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave Chavez a new career-high in runs.
